Information technology is an integral component in the modern business environment. With its rapidly changing nature there is a need for skilled professionals who can lead in this dynamic environment. The Master of Technology (Business Systems) provides a framework of conceptual theory and problem solving strategies for the use of information technology as a major component of business strategy and related operations.
The Master of Technology (Business Systems) is designed to suit the needs of a wide range of participants from different industry backgrounds. Its purpose is to build on the student’s experience and extend students’ knowledge and skills in relation to both information technology and its capacity to create value in an organisational context.
The program aims to develop students who are able to contribute to the design, development and implementation of information related systems within their relevant domain to address both operational and strategic challenges.
The key objectives of the Master of Technology (Business Systems) are to produce graduates who:
- are able to take a lead role in the development, use and/or delivery of information communication technology solutions in ever changing organisational environments;
- have mastered an understanding of the value of information technology from both a strategic decision making and an operational perspective;
- have developed the conceptual understanding, skills and attributes to enable them to create social capital in and across organisations to manage and analyse stakeholder interests.

Degree structure
Graduate Certificate of Technology (Business System)
In order to gain the Graduate Certificate of Technology (Business System) students must successfully complete four units of study.
Graduate Diploma of Technology (Business System)
In order to gain the Graduate Diploma of Technology (Business System) students must successfully complete eight units of study.
Master of Technology (Business System)
In order to gain the Master of Technology (Business System) students must successfully complete twelve units of study.
Admission requirements
The Master of Technology (Business Systems) is a conversion program targeted at people who have at least 12 months relevant work experience and an approved undergraduate degree in a non-Information Technology discipline.
The recommended progression to Masters level for applicants without an undergraduate degree is through the Graduate Certificate in the first instance, with articulation to Graduate Diploma and Masters levels being conditional upon successful completion of the subordinate level. Note that applicants without an undergraduate degree require at least 4 years relevant work experience for admission to the Graduate Certificate (Business Systems).
