As a Public Relations professional you will work to protect and advance your clients reputation through the use of media and relationship building.

On behalf of your client you will highlight their success, while negating negative press or opinion. You will work with a range of stakeholders including the general public, industry, government and media agencies.

Public relation professionals frequently work alongside creative designers. In recognition of this relationship the course integrates a Design foundation that will allow you collaborate effectively with the Design professionals.

Note: Students will be required to study on the Prahran and Lilydale campuses in the first year.

You may also choose to complete a double degree, awarding you two qualifications in only four years of full time study:


Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations)
Campus Lilydale/Prahran
Course Duration Three years full time or equivalent part time, plus optional Industry-Based Learning (IBL) 6 or 12 month placement. Not available to international students.
Lilydale ATAR Bonus

We'll provide a 5 point ATAR bonus to VCE applicants who choose to study at the Lilydale campus.

To be eligible you need to successfully complete year 12 at a nominated secondary school and apply for a degree program delivered on the Lilydale campus.

Professional Recognition This course is recognised by the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

Students may study co-majors and minors not offered by the Faculty of Higher Education, Lilydale through another Swinburne Faculty, subject to program prescription and timetabling availability.
