Course restrictions for FHEL programs

Students must include in their degree of 24 units a 16 unit professional major. A further 8 units of study can either comprise of a co-major (8 units) OR two (2) minors of 4 units each.

The accounting professional major includes 18 units precluding students from undertaking a co-major within a 24 unit degree. However, accounting students, may undertake a minor with the option of an advanced minor in finance.

All students must complete a minimum of 8 units at Swinburne University of Technology. This regulation applies to programs that include unit exemptions, studies completed through international exchange, cross institutional study, study through Open Universities Australia and study abroad.

Students will not be allowed to study more than 26 units as part of a single degree program.

The same unit cannot be counted more than once. However, some major/minor studies may overlap. The maximum allowable overlap of units across majors, co-majors and minors is 50%. Students must complete a minimum of 50% of the co-major or minor in order to be awarded the course of study.

Students may not count units, or sequences of units, where there is substantial overlap of content between programs, including project units and co-badged units, towards their degree.

Students may complete a maximum of 8 units external to Faculty of Higher Education Lilydale (FHEL) as part of their 16 unit professional major. This includes study at another Swinburne faculty, international exchange, cross institutional study or study through Open Universities Australia.

Students may not undertake studies from another Swinburne faculty where the units or sequence of units are equivalent to those offered by FHEL.
