Dr Suku Sinnappan

Senior Lecturer Business Dynamics & Systems


Dr Suku Sinnappan has extensive experience in eBusiness research and applications.

Previously Suku was attached to the Information Systems Dept at the University of Wollongong. He has a PhD from the University of Newcastle which looked at formulating an effective Internet Marketing model where customers can be categorised using brand personality and cognitive science techniques on an agent-to-agent based platform. This multi-disciplinary research combined the different disciplines namely Cognitive Science, Internet Marketing, Consumer Behaviour and Software Engineering.

His current research interests involves Second Life, wireless sensor networks, on-line profiling, personalisation of information on the web, web usability, website masking, and technology and sustainability.

His industry collaborative research partners are Andrew Networks (formerly Nortel Networks), Hutchinson (3G), IBM, and Standards Australia International involving topics such as location-based services, on-line profiling, website quality assessment, risk-based information systems and internet marketing. Suku has presented his work at various local and international conferences and has won several best paper awards.

Suku was a member of UTS Robot Soccer Team, which emerged as the 2004 World and Australian Champions.

Suku established the Australian Second Life Educators and Researchers to network practitioners, educators and enthusiasts within Oceania. Suku is also the Chair for the forthcoming Australasian Second Life workshop to be held in Melbourne 28-29 November 2008.

Suku has previously taught at the University of Wollongong, Graduate School of Business Wollongong, University of Technology Sydney, University of Newcastle, Malaysian Energy University and University Putra Malaysia.

Among the subjects he has taught includes Electronic Commerce, Data Communication, Distributed Database, Internet Marketing, Business Computing, Market Research, Advertising and Marketing and Business Communication.

Qualifications:

PhD in eBusiness, 2004 University of Newcastle. Thesis title: "Formulation of an Effective Internet Marketing Model: Using Conceptual Spaces to categorise online consumers in agent-to-agent mediated e-Business."

MSc Communication (Internet Technology), 1998 University Putra Malaysia, Malaysia. Thesis Title: "Internet Addiction: An exploratory study amongst Malaysian Internet users."
